Adult Classes
Adult classes are designed to provide a safe, fun
environment.  
Just one hour, twice per week, will give
you the strength of body and peace of mind you deserve.   
Classes range in age from the mid-twenties up into the
sixties.  Many of our adults also have children training,
and utilize the martial arts as an opportunity to
share a
common interest with their kids.
A comprehensive, four part workout
Our program is designed to maximize the many benefits the Martial Arts have to offer.  Class flows
naturally from one component to the next, moving from flexibility and strength training, through
cardiovascular conditioning, into the balance and coordination of traditional martial arts training.  Each
component of class complements the others, and the constant variety relieves the boredom found in
most repetitive workouts.  Below is a listing and brief description of a typical class format.
Fitness
Core strengthening and cardiovascular conditioning are
accomplished through an effective combination of martial arts
movement and calisthenics.  We will get your heart rate up
using martial arts principles which will also help bilateral
coordination and balance, as well as strengthening the
tendons and joints.  Utilizing a series of core strengthening
calisthenics and exercises, you will learn to balance the
muscles of the stomach and back, upper and lower body with
this whole body strengthening approach.
Stress Management and Stretching
Now that you are warm and loose, we will develop your flexibility
with a head to toe stretching curriculum, leaving your muscles and
connective tissue long and loose.  Proper breathing will be taught,
giving you the ability to release tension and increase energy.  The
end result is better health and a more durable body that is more
resistant to injury.
Martial Arts Basics
We keep your heart rate up for a few more minutes with traditional martial
arts strikes, kicks and stances.  These movements are excellent for
increasing coordination and developing both speed and power.  They are
also the building blocks upon which your skill will be based.  Repetition of
these movements will reprogram your nervous system, giving you a
command over your body like never before.
Traditional Shaolin Kempo Karate
The final segment of class will train students in self defense
techniques and traditional kata.  Class is divided based on ability
level, so that each student may learn and progress at a rate which is
comfortable for them.  Each week will present the opportunity to add
to your growth and development, as you advance through the ranks
towards Black Belt.
