Skills for Life

This class will focus on applying strong character traits in any
given situation.  Each month a different topic will be explored.
Some examples are; communication and listening skills,
building confidence, applying the three rules (self control, self
discipline, and respect for others), goal setting, being solution
oriented, self motivation skills, and more.  Each student will
receive a handout detailing what was covered in the class; so
that parents can discus what they learned or get clarification in
regards to what was discussed.
Bullying:
Prevention and Awareness

This class will focus on identifying bullying behaviors and the
skills necessary to successfully navigate through various
situations.  We will also develop strategies designed to prevent
or change the behaviors which will cause bullies to view you as
a potential victim.  By using this two level approach, we hope to
give children some effective tools to help cope with the
pressures they face from their peers.

Bullying Prevention - Skills for Life- Women's Self Defense
More than just the Martial Arts

At Villari’s, we have always held to the belief that the martial arts are an excellent catalyst for providing personal growth and development to
anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background.  We have had so many of our students share stories of how their time with us has benefited
them in their lives.

Interestingly, almost never do these stories involve an individual having to defend themselves against an attack.  They usually involve
improvements in health, school performance, emotional stability, or just the recognition of a “safe place” to learn and grow. This has lead to the
realization that there is more we could be doing to help our students benefit from the lessons of the martial arts beyond the four walls of the Dojo.

We love the fact that a student of our school will never be benched, or cut from the team.  We can all experience success in a way that feels right
to each of us individually, and share it with others who are like minded.  We feel that it is important to give you all the opportunity to further
develop skills beyond forms and combinations; skills that will apply directly to your personal growth and development.

“Off the Mat” classes

These classes, some for adults, some for children, will focus on skills to be used in life, when you are not in the dojo training on the mats.  Any
student, regardless of rank, is welcome to attend these classes.  Any family member of a student is also welcome to attend these classes.  There
will be no charge for these lessons, as long as at least one member of your family is actively training.  These classes will also be open to the
public for a small fee.  Below is a list and brief description of the classes we offer on a regular basis.  The children’s classes will be available each
month, while the adult classes will alternate, with each topic available every other month.  Periodically, additional classes will be offered, ranging
in topics from fitness to martial arts history and philosophy.

We view our school as a valuable resource within the community, and are committed to offering as many tools as possible to better the lives of
those we touch.  We are very excited about these programs, and look forward to seeing how your involvement will benefit both you and your
family.
Personal Safety &
Basic Self-Defense

Often times, simply feeling more competent and prepared can
cause a predator to pass you by.  This class will be geared
towards women 15 and up who have little or no martial arts
experience, and are looking to gain an edge in preventing or
overcoming an attack.  The approach will be two fold, focusing
on simple techniques designed to defeat a physical attack,
coupled with attitude and awareness skills to help minimize the
risk of being viewed as a potential target.
