Leadership and Enrichment Programs for Schools |
| Hi! This is Master Ken Caputo, Director of Villari's of North Windham. I have been teaching the martial arts professionally in the Windham and Mansfield communities for over fifteen years. During that time, I have been invited into many of the local schools to present a class, or provide a demonstration for the students. I feel that it is extremely important to be an active contributor to the community in which I both live and work. I consider my martial arts school a resource that offers multiple opportunities for personal growth and development, and I enjoy taking the time to share my services beyond the four walls of my Dojo. I know that it only takes one positive interaction to potentially change the course of one’s life for the better, and over the years, I have had many individuals express the importance of constructive role models willing to share their experiences in becoming successful members of the community. When working with students, my main focus is on character development, and teaching the importance of respect, confidence, and self control. I recently contributed a chapter on bullying to the book “Helping Boys Succeed in School” by Terry Neu. Dr. Neu and I are currently under contract to publish a second book dealing specifically with the topic of bullying. This project has lead to my desire to share our findings first hand with the schools in our community. I have had several schools bring me in for a PE period, or for special events like career day, or field day. I have also recently implemented a life skills and bully prevention program called “Off the Mat” at my school, to address the importance of continued exposure to positive messages delivered by positive role models. Dr. Nue and I presented a bullying workshop at UCONN this summer at Confratute, and received a lot of positive feedback from the educators involved. I would like to offer my services to your students and faculty if you feel that they could benefit from these classes. I hope that you will consider contacting me to further explore the possibilities of how I may contribute to your school. If I have worked with you previously, let’s renew our relationship. I have never charged for these services, and any necessary materials will also be donated at no cost to the school. There is a variety of programs that could be tailored to your school’s specific needs, and I would be happy to sit down with a school representative to discuss the possibilities with them. Feel free to contact me either by phone or email, I encourage you explore the site to get a better feel for what we have to offer. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon. |
