...a fun-filled, friendly and family-oriented program with an emphasis on learning about respect, discipline and self-
control...tools that will guide you through life.
Ken and Lisa Caputo have created an environment at the North Windham Villari's Dojo that stimulates individual
growth, nurtures the body and mind, and provides an opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills that
will serve them and the rest of the community well in the future.
Villari's of N. Windham is a place where younger children (mine) have an opportunity to interact with teens and young adults
who are positive role models. My children look up to and are attached to these examples of responsible, kind, respectful people.
My children's sense of self confidence has grown in ways that are immeasurable. They have
the opportunity to grow in skills that will assist them through out their lives. The self
defense skills that they have gained will always be there to help them IF they ever need
them; the life skills of confidence, respect and discipline will carry them through each
and every day.
I wouldn't say that we would take Karate ANYWHERE! We joined this Villari's studio about 6 years ago and stay
because of the highly qualified, trained staff and the values that are reinforced by Lisa and Ken - the owners.
...a place where you can go and be respected for who you are and what you have to offer...
The Best Darn Karate Training-Period!!!!
Speaking as a parent of one of his students and as a student myself, I highly recommend
North Windham Villari's. Ken Caputo is a charismatic instructor to both children and
adults. He makes learning interesting, fun, and engages all the students in the class.
A unique blending of martial arts understanding, personal commitment, aerobic conditioning, stretching, breathing,
power, and fun!
Villari's Martial Arts of North Windham provides kids, teens, and adults a serious course
in the martial arts while maintaining a fun and exciting atmosphere.
The North Windham Villari's is my escape and refuge from the stresses of the world around me. The
physical, mental and social benefits of belonging to this family, because it truly is a family, an awesome. Joining this
family has been one of the most positive experiences in my entire life.
I have no doubt that Ken and Lisa's influence helped mold my sons into the men they have
become. I appreciate them for the positive role models they are.
We’re happy to provide testimonial on this. Since we enrolled our twin sons, Joseph and Adam, in North Windham
Villari’s Shaolin Kempo Karate last year, they have grown dramatically in confidence. They eagerly look forward to
their classes, and have been working hard to apply the lessons they learn in karate to other areas of their lives.
Furthermore, we have found Villari’s to be a unique, relaxed and family-friendly environment, in which our sons can
grow without experiencing the unhealthy over-emphasis on ruthless competition that seems to be so prevalent in
many team sports. Thanks for the great job that you are doing teaching our sons.
In 6 years, my son has gone from a child who only had a couple of close friends to one who has a large group of
friends of all ages, most of whom also take classes at Villari's. He has gone from a child who felt awkward and out of
place in groups to one who is comfortable giving presentations in school. He has changed from a child who
questioned his athletic abilities to one who knows he is capable of great things, both on and off the field. He's
becoming the person he's always had the potential to be.
Actually, now is probably a good time to thank you for all you've done for him. I'm not sure he'd be the person he is
today without your help. Thanks,
Ken and his instructors ensure every child feels special. Combinations and forms are taught in a warm, positive and
affirming atmosphere. They readily model for their students the three rules of karate on a daily basis.
I could keep on going . . . We think you are all fantastic!!
Your program has been a great builder of character, skill and self-confidence for our son and your personal touch
has been deeply appreciated.
The Villari’s School in N. Windham we feel has been a wonderful influence on our 12 year old daughter
(Kristina). In June of 06 she earned her first degree Black belt, Kristina maintains an A average in
school, is exceptionally well rounded and is beginning to emerge as a quiet leader in school and in life.
As parents we can take some credit for much of this but I also have to acknowledge the Job that Ken and
Lisa Caputo do to help further our efforts.
Beyond the obvious benefits of learning to defend ones self Ken Caputo's focus on teaching martial arts as a tool
for my son to learn self confidence, respect for others and to develop coordination, flexibility and lay the ground
work for physical fitness was very evident shortly after he began training at Villari's of North Windham.
Imagine learning early in life that by working hard toward a goal you can achieve it,
learning to face adversity and embrace it instead of turning away from it, learning to
have honor and respect for ones self and peers, to be freed from the self imposed and
environmental chains that surround youth and be able to explore and direct ones life with
purpose.
Beyond learning self defense these qualities are byproducts of learning martial arts and
values Ken Caputo nurtures in his students.
My training in martial arts has served me well in my life. I see the same foundation
developing in my son, he is just having fun now, but I know he will be well served by his
training in martial arts too.
When we go out to a restaurant I have always asked the boys to find their best behavior before we go in. Of late,
when I request the same, I get a resounding:“YES, M’AM!” from both of them. It’s nice to get an enthusiastic
response to minding ones manners.
Karate gives my daughter a chance to feel good about herself. She enjoys the challenge of learning the moves, the
instructors, the friends she's made. It's one thing she tells us she needs in her life. For her it's an important part of
who she is right now as she navigates the preteen years.
Karate had benefited my daughters both physically, mentally and emotionally. It has helped them gain strength,
flexibility, and develop coordination, in addition to physical conditioning. They have incorporated the fundamentals
of the three rules of Karate into their daily lives, both personally and at school. And lastly, belonging to the Villari’s
of North Windham dojo has given them a sense of pride and enhanced their self esteem. My husband and I consider
this an investment in our daughter’s futures.
My daughters have made progress in several outside areas since they started taking karate classes at Villari's. The
fact that they are more coordinated and have better balance could have been predicted. However, their ability to
focus and think things through, improved self esteem and self discipline are an added surprise bonus! We truly
appreciate the safe, comfortable, child friendly atmosphere that you provide for our girls. Thank you!
Villari's has been great for our two boys. It has especially benefited our youngest C.J. who has extra energy to
spend. Ken and the staff have helped him learn to focus his energy more positively through his training. Thanks to
Ken & Lisa and all the staff.
It will be hard to summarize in one or two lines how much your Karate instruction has benefited Aaron.
He has grown in confidence and maturity. He has grown from a boy who never raised his hand in
school and was very reserved to a young man who is comfortable talking in most situations. I believe
the discipline of Karate and your example have helped Aaron avoid
many of the "pitfalls" of the teen years.
We believe that Villari's has helped Eric to build self confidence, improve his self control and social skills.
My son was very uncomfortable--not well suited--for the youth sports scene, but he needed some kind of physical activity. I
observed a couple classes and was sure that Villari's of North Windham was the answer--and I was right. My son trained for
six years, earning a black belt and a sense of respect and confidence. His sisters joined later. My daughter, though not terribly
athletic, also earned her black belt over the course of six years. Her experiences at Villari's are largely responsible for her
transformation from a shy little girl to a confident, healthy young teen.
Ever since our son started taking karate from Villari's, he has been more able to focus in school, pay attention at
home and attend to the task at hand. It has helped him in so many ways, emotionally and physically. This is quality
training at its best!
I think that my kids have benefited from karate by gaining a lot of confidence. Unlike sports, the kids do not have to
be in competition with each other and EVERYONE gets a chance to participate. I also really enjoy seeing them
have such a sense of accomplishment when they earn a new star or belt. I believe they also got a lot of very useful
information from the first bullying prevention class they went to last week. Ken covered areas that I believe most
parents wouldn’t even think of when teaching their children about how to handle bullies.
My son’s behavior at school and home has improved 10 fold, and he has much better self esteem.
Karate gives my daughter a chance to feel good about herself. She enjoys the challenge of learning the moves, the
instructors, the friends she's made. It's one thing she tells us she needs in her life. For her it's an important part of
who she is right now as she navigates the preteen years.
I put my sons into your program because of all the good role models they would have. Now they are role models
themselves.
-A very proud parent.
"Good lord take a good look at my kids today... one is a college student and one will be graduating in two years! I am
very lucky to have found Villari’s."
I was just talking to a friend of mine about Villari's and the change in T'yanna in the last 2 years. Since she has
joined, she has said how much she loves it and how she is so happy when it’s time to go to class or to an extra
activity that she is doing that day. Her attitude is so much better, the way she talks to us as Grandparents. Believe
me she is still only 7 but compared to other 7 yr. olds, the respect she shows, people ask me all the time "how old is
she? " The way you and your crew treat the kids is worth its weight in gold......
The assets of doing the martial arts at Villari's of North Windham? Sure, there is the physical training, the great group of
kids doing positive things, the extra activities such as "up-lates" and weapons training. However, I feel the single most
important thing my son has learned at Villari's is acceptance: self-acceptance and acceptance of others, exactly as they
are. And that wisdom has come through the three rules Villari's enforces: self-discipline, self-control, and respect for
others.
I love your program! It has benefited my son in many areas including strength, self confidence, and he truly enjoys
doing karate more than any other sport. You provide a great atmosphere and great teachers. Thank you for all
you do.
I don’t know if we can limit all the benefits Sean has received from training under your instruction to a one or two line
response. There have been so many attributes Sean has developed in his years with your school. Pat and I
thought some major points we would want to relay are:
1. His growth in confidence
2. The supportive, fun and constructive environment of the school
3. The year round training (vs seasonal)
4. The importance put on respect and supporting other people you train with
Training has allowed my grandson to use his vast amount of energy in a focused manner and Stephanie is great at
dealing with a 3 year olds attention span of 15 seconds. He has a great sense of pride when getting checks for
accomplishing something new or especially when receiving a new belt.
Many thanks to you and Lisa for the opportunity you give the kids to develop important attributes in their lives.
PS Sean says one of the most important aspects of karate is learning how to treat others respectfully.
I'm so grateful for all that you have done for my daughter and hope that the following statement will help open the
doors for others to find a positive path in life with your guidance.
My foster daughter is twelve years old and has been living with my family for nearly three months. When she joined
my family she was shy, distant, and at times frustrated with her life in general. Unable to find a voice that would help
her express herself she found it difficult to relate to her new family and people she met. Through Villari’s Martial Arts
my daughter has found the strength to face the life she had come from and to begin building a positive future. Villari’s
has helped her to look within herself and start to understand that she has the voice, strength, power and above all the
courage to face a world of uncertainty but also of wonderful and safe possibilities.
"Lessons for all ages. The knowledge passed on from the instructors is priceless."
